On Sunday, B & I had some errands to run near Somerville's Union Square. We had never been there, so we spent some time wandering around. While we were there, we heard some rave reviews of the brunch at The Independent. We're not ones to pass up a good brunch, so we headed there immediately.




B's beer & my mimosa. For my meal, I ordered quinoa and a poached egg over a bed of greens. It was unique & delicious.

My Saturday Night

Saturday night, B and I had plans to visit an art show at a cafe in our neighborhood. We went to dinner beforehand (read: we had delicious nachos & beer), and ended up staying at the bar instead. I wore my new favorite scarf, which I recently scooped up for $10 at TJ Maxx. I love that it is black, brown, and grey - I'll be able to wear it with everything! I also wore one of my favorite spring sweaters, which I got for, like, 80% off last year.

Layers

I don't know why, but I sort of used to think layering was strictly a fall thing. Probably because, where I'm from, the seasons seemed to jump straight from winter to summer. This year, however, as winter turns to spring in Boston, I'm having so much fun layering some of my spring pieces. One of my new favorite "tricks" is layering a chambray shirt over another top and under a vest or jacket. (I tried it another way here.)

Veggie Burger Wrap

One of my favorite cafes in Boston makes a killer veggie burger wrap. I decided to replicate it at home, and, to be honest, I like my version even better. I love when that happens!

I used a jalapeno cheddar wrap, which I filled with a veggie burger patty, lettuce, tomato, cheese, and fat-free honey dijon dressing. A perfect lunch!

I thrifted this sweater at Goodwill the other day and couldn't wait to wear it. B says it looks like a potato sack, but I love it, so whatever.

The last time I wore these light pink pants (which was last fall ), I also paired them with an olive green top. Green and pink is one of my favorite color combinations, and I think it works for both fall and spring, as long as you complement it with the right accessories. Here, I wore fun pink earrings and a bright floral print scarf to add a touch of spring. 

Coral Crazy

Last spring, I fell head over heels in love with this fun coral color and bought coral-colored shorts, tops, and jewelry. This year, my obsession continues, and I want more more more! My newest coral purchase is the lipstick that I'm wearing here: Covergirl LipPerfection in "Rapture." It's subtle and pretty, and it lasts forfreakingever.

I've been so inspired recently by the various ways other bloggers are starting to transition their wardrobes to include some springier pieces. I especially love seeing spring dresses layered with scarves and jackets. I gave the look a try myself here, and the result is one of my favorite outfits yet. How had I never tried pairing olive, navy, and brown before?!

I had the day off from school yesterday, and I wore this outfit for a long, fun, and productive day of thrifting with my friend Cristina. I'll be showing you my new goodies soon, for sure.

My Big Day

Yesterday was a big day for me: I got my hair cut for the first time in . . . hmm . . . three years? I decided to go in for a trim because my ends were looking horrendous, and my hairdresser cut off way more than I was expecting. I kind of love it now that the shock has worn off, though. What do you think?

I hope you all had a lovely weekend. B and I spent yesterday afternoon wandering around the South End, where we people watched, visited boutiques, and ate yummy eggplant parm subs.

Still Waiting for Spring

This scarf is one of my absolute favorites (okay, I probably say that about all of my scarves). I adore the color combo - as you can probably tell from the fact that I've built my outfit around it - and I think the floral pattern is perfect, both on its own and paired with other patterns. I hope you like this scarf too because I plan to wear the heck out of it this spring. I couldn't resist interjecting a bit of spring into the rest of my outfit, as well, including a bright dress and a knotted gingham top.
