Plaid Love

Cardigan: Forever 21
Button-down: Lands' End Canvas
Shorts: Levi's
Tights: Hue (Macy's)
Boots: Charlotte Russe
Bracelets: Two Girls Shop (in Salem), American Eagle

This comes as no surprise to some of you, but I love plaid. One of my favorite things about the pattern is how versatile it is. You can wear a slightly oversized, loose plaid button-down with a pair of jeans, boots, and minimal accessories to achieve a rugged, casual look. You can pair that same plaid shirt with a structured cardigan and strand of pearls to create a classic, preppie look. Or you can go a little bit boho by adding a chunky scarf, leggings, and some funky accessories. Really, the possibilities are endless!

This plaid shirt is one of my  favorites, and I've used it to achieve a variety of looks in the past. Here, I unknowingly created some sort of combination of all of the above.

Do you love plaid? What's your favorite way to wear it?

  1. AH! love this outfit hannah! you pull off the tights and shorts so well! I just bought a new plaid shirt at JCrew! GASP I spent 88 bucks on it. It still has the tags on it, its going to be another leap to actual wear it. BUT I think I am going to take it for a test run tonight for a double date and trivia.... I got butterfulys just thinking about it... not the double date... wearing the shirt! haha

  4. I struggle with plaid. I buy the pieces and then I wear them 2 or 3 times tops. I always want to go hipster-ish with my styling because it reminds me of my mom. My mom is super young (had me when she was 18) so when I was a little kid she was in her 20s and into the whole Seattle grunge look. She dressed us both in over-sized plaid flannel shirts and straight legged jeans all winter long!
