My sister & I are both a little creepy in the fact that we love cemeteries. Lucky for us, Salem is full of them, some of which are of more historical significance than others (read: some of which attract more tourists than others). On Friday, we ventured away from the more "popular" cemeteries and visited Harmony Grove. Harmony Grove actually contains quite a few notable burials & local celebrities too, so I can't wait to go back & explore more - preferably on a much cooler day.
Because I was going to be doing a lot of walking - and, of course, because it was so hot & humid - I opted for a super simple outfit consisting of cut-offs & a t-shirt. I added the fedora simply for utility: I could hide my hair underneath without worry about how sweaty & frizzy it would surely be. To avoid feeling too grubby, though, I added some subtle red lipstick & my favorite flower stud earrings. They jazzed my outfit up just the right amount, and I actually love the result. Sometimes, simple really is better, eh?

You always look adorable in hats...I'm jealous :)
ReplyDeleteI love simple outfits in the summer! I think I'd be too creeped out to visit the cemetery.

I love historical graveyards. Salem has some good ones!

Great cemetery! And, in the horrific New England heat, I think simple does always work best, adding a touch of lipstick and a favorite accessory is a great way to add some interest to a simple look though.

This is just about a perfect summer look. A fedora, sunnies, a tee and shorts! Seriously, it just doesn't get cuter than this. (You look so chic in the fedora, its a great look on you!)
ReplyDeleteI so agree with you! I love cemeteries, this one has such beautiful stone work.
I like old cemeteries, but at the same time I am too superstitious to actually venture into one for photos or to look around. Maybe one day I'll get over that. :) I like the idea of accessorizing a very simple outfit with lipstick, too -- will have to try it. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks, Carrie!
ReplyDeleteThank you! I love fedoras. They're so practical but also so cute!
ReplyDeleteAlso, glad to hear I'm not alone in my cemetery love!
Glad you found me, Courtney. Headed over to your blog now :)
ReplyDeleteHaha, the ONLY person?! Wow. I must be even weirder than I thought ;)

I'm with you - I love cemeteries, too! Something about the quiet stillness and historical significance. I did a photoshoot in one not too long ago! ;-)
