Last Saturday was sister's last day in the city. It was 60 degrees and sunny, a perfect day for a stroll on Newbury Street, which was surprisingly quiet and calm for a Saturday afternoon. We did a bit of Christmas shopping, ate lunch and cupcakes, and enjoyed the unbelievably nice November weather. I also scooped up an adorable scarf for myself at Filene's Basement, which is currently having its going-out-of-business sale. Of course, I'll debut the scarf on the blog soon.

Charlestown

The Warren Tavern. According to Wikipedia: The Warren Tavern is the oldest tavern in Massachusetts and one of the most historic watering holes in America. It was founded in 1780, and in the early years of the it was frequented by Paul Revere, Benjamin Franklin and George Washington.

These photos are from last Friday, when I showed my sister around Charlestown. It's my favorite part of Boston, and I went a little crazy taking pictures, so I hope you don't mind that today's post is a bit photo-intensive. Charlestown has a quaintness and charm about it unlike any other place I've ever seen. I adore its rich history, colorful homes, and little shops. Despite my love for the neighborhood, however, I've only been there twice, and both visits were much shorter than I would have liked. Next time I go I plan to really explore!

Back to the Farm

One of the things my sister insisted we do while she was in Boston was visit Allendale Farm. I've declared my love for Allendale Farm on the blog before, so you probably know I was glad to oblige her. The last time B and I went, fall was in full swing; this time, the weather was decidedly more wintery. As much as I'm sad to see fall go, the farm was still beautiful, and I'd be lying if I said I didn't love seeing all the Christmas decorations. I can't wait to go back once they're finished decorating for Christmas and have trees for sale. I warned you: I'm a sucker for the holidays.

As I mentioned before, my sister goes to school in Florida. She hates the Florida weather, so while she was visiting she wanted to spend as much time outside as possible to enjoy the gorgeous Boston fall. One of the best places to do that, I think, is in Cambridge. We spent a few hours last weekend wandering around Harvard's campus, Harvard Square, and the surrounding areas. It was a perfect day. Can you believe I was able to get away with semi-bare legs and a cardi in November?

As many of you already know, my little sister is in Boston for the week. She and I are both suckers for anything holiday-themed, so of course we had to attend the Faneuil Hall tree lighting ceremony on Saturday night. We bundled up in our sweaters and scarves, picked up lattes, and watched the show, which was a great time (other than the crowd full of rude and/or obnoxious people). Are you all as excited for the holiday season as I am, or are you holding out as long as possible?
