As a student myself, I'm sympathetic to the desire to be comfortable while sitting through hours of classes and studying. Nonetheless, I hate that, for many of my fellow students, comfort = sweats. I'm not saying I expect formal wear, but I wish people would realize that comfort and style aren't mutually exclusive. This outfit is an example of what I wear for a long day of classes: warm and comfy sweater, stretchy jeans, slipper-like shoes. I promise, I'm just as comfortable as my classmates who show up in their pajamas. Plus - bonus! - I feel awake, alert, and appropriate.
I agree, I remember students would always show up in sweats and looked like they just rolled out of bed! It's not difficult to throw on some jeans and brush your teeth!
ReplyDeleteLove this comfy look on you - and your hair looks adorable. Cute shoes!
Totally agree that you can look good and be comfortable! I like the preppy vibe of the outfit.
ReplyDeleteI totally agree. I never went to class in my night ware.
ReplyDeleteI love this outfit!
I love the color combination. I can't cast too many stones. When I was in college there were points where I was working two full time jobs on top of being a full time student. I don't even know how I was doing that. Most of the time I would show up in my work clothes which were business casual but I could still manage to look a mess. There were points where I forgot I even owned a mirror on the hectic race to class from work. :( Thankfully life is much calmer now and I'm once again on friendly terms with mirrors.
ReplyDeleteSo true. If I ever wore jeans to class people thought I had dressed up.
ReplyDeleteCouldn't agree more! At my law school, people would where sweats all the time. Come on! We are adults. Is that really what you want to be wearing if say alumni (i.e. judges and accomplished attorneys) stop by the school? Also- LOVE this outfit. In fact, I'm wearing something very very similar today (cable knit sweater, collared shirt, pearls but with leggings and boots) So perf for Friday!
ReplyDeleteVery cute outfit! I love that sweater, it looks so warm and comfortable yet stylish!
ReplyDeleteI agree... . I think I can count twice when I wore sweats to class in 4 years. Once I was deadly sick but didn't want to miss class, and the other I was extremely hung over. I must say, I feel accomplished when compared to the my peers.

I've never thought that being a student was a good excuse for dressing like a slob. And you look so relaxed and chic, this is so much better than sweats!

I remember those days! At FIT, it's the opposite and people dress up WAY too much just to show off. That's what you get with a fashion school I guess.
ReplyDeleteHi outfit twin ;) Obviously, I think you look great lol!
ReplyDeleteYou are going to be a precious lawyer! I can see it already!
ReplyDeleteI love this look. It is so classic! And your shoes are adorable!

If I wore sweats, it was usually black pants so they weren't totally obvious. I will say now that I have to dress up - I REALLY miss my jeans/sweats/not giving (too much of) a crap what I looked like. Those were the days!!
ReplyDeleteI have been wondering how to style brogues so I don't look like a boy. This is it - you look pretty, preppy and chic!!!

ReplyDeleteLove the pairing of the pearls with that sweater!
